ive been animating more than drawing lately, so i thought i'd just sit down for a couple of hours and practice figure drawing. its always best to work from life, but when you can't a photograph is the next best thing. here are a few from maybe fifty that are worth a look see.
here is a short character study in flash. thought i would show one of my motion study drawings also. in the past while working in hand-drawn i've mostly used a straight ahead approach to animating, but i wanted to try and work through the scene in keys first and then in-between. despite all my planning i think the scene starts out strong but looses its direction toward the end. the characters motion also feels kind of stiff even though its frame by frame, no tweening.

wow - so its been along time since my last post. here is some of the stuff i've been working on. i was lucky enough to collab with the guys over at T2 to bring these old balls to life. big thanks to adam buritsch for setting me up with this gig. my contribution to the project was puppet and set fabrication and some puppeteering. check it out!

"makin friends ain't easy" a quick character study i recently finished in after effects. expect to see more appearances from these little guys in the future.
learned a lot about using the puppet tool, graph editor and after effects in general in the process of this project. didn't use it for this one, but it was brought to my attention from a friend recently that i should check out the DuIK Tool inverse kinematics script for Afx. it basically brings the principles of 3D rigging into the world of Afx. i'm usually the last to hear about these kinds of things, but if your not familiar with it, i would highly recommend it for any kind of character based animation in Afx.

som quick character pose studies for my short film project. i'm still working out all of the character traits and attributes. really trying to develop a strong implicit characterization. i've also been working a lot in 3D to iron out the basic technicalities before i really start production. should be posting som of the tests in the near future.
